Three of Tamil Nadu family murdered, police suspect robbery motive

A family of three was murdered in Pongalur, Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, with police suspecting robbery as the motive.
The victims, identified as Deivasigamani, his wife Amalathal, and their son Senthil Kumar, were found dead at their farmhouse in Semalaikavundampalayam on Friday morning.
Senthil Kumar, who worked in an IT firm in Coimbatore, had visited his parents on Thursday night to attend a wedding. The discovery was made by a barber who routinely visited Deivasigamani.
Upon reaching the scene, police found Deivasigamani critically injured outside the house. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Amalathal and Senthil Kumar were found hacked to death inside the house.
Tiruppur District SP Lakshmi, who inspected the crime scene, revealed that the initial investigation points to a possible burglary gone wrong. “Both sharp and blunt weapons were used in the attack. So far, seven sovereigns of gold jewellery have been reported missing. However, we are also examining other angles, such as personal disputes,” she said.
Police suspect the murders took place around 2 am and have formed five special teams to investigate. CCTV footage from the area is being scrutinized, and vehicle checks have been intensified.
Further investigation is underway.
